Blueberries (age 2.5-3.4)
Children in the Blueberry Room help to establish a curriculum by discovering their own ideas and interests. As an array of mediums are introduced, children are encouraged to express themselves in a variety of ways. With new language emerging, Blueberries begin to engage in problem solving skills and collaboration.
Raspberries (age 3.4-3.11)
Learning centers are displayed to invite children into the classroom to investigate new opportunities. The importance of play shines as children experience the process of making friends, making discoveries, and of course, making a mess. Intentional language provokes thought and promotes conversation as Raspberries continue to collaborate with others and develop a sense of self.
Blackberries (age 4.0-4.8)
As children matriculate to the Blackberry Room, they begin to follow the ‘plan’ of a teacher through thematic learning. Each month, children explore a different country. At the end of the month, our Blackberries celebrate the country by dressing in the garments and enjoying a potluck of the traditional foods. Secondary themes are also introduced, such as artists, planets, etc., as well as a letter of the week and number concepts.
